Slackware-live on Macbook Air 2013, early 2014, & 2020
by bgeer from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5BJTF)
I can successfully run Slackware-live -current 1.3.5.2 using USB2 & USB3 flash drives. I installed 1.3.5.2 on an SSD with sata/USB2 cable & my MBAir 2013 & 2014 boot successfully & seem to run faster. However, neither MBAir will boot from sata/USB3 cable. Boot messages fly off the screen too fast to provide specific info, & no amount of boot delay helps. It appears to go into some kind of error loop in the USB3 boot boot from disk code.
Thanks to covid & having too much time on my hands, I tried booting my Macbook Air 2020 from my flash drives (both USB2 & USB3) & if I wait long enough I get to the login screen without a working keyboard. During boot I see tons of messages about some "TB2" error which I assume hints that keyboard comes across a different input path for which Linux does not have a driver. Or at least the early boot code doesn't.
Any comments on either issue appreciated.
Not a lot of specific info here, but with boot messages flying off the screen at warp speed makes that imposssible.
Much Obliged, Bob
