Hamilton police investigating whether assault and stabbing are connected
Hamilton police are looking for an armed and dangerous" man wanted after a woman was allegedly confined in a Concession Street apartment and assaulted over the weekend.
Detectives are investigating whether there is a connection between that assault and a nearby stabbing around 6 a.m. Sunday that left a 42-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.
Police believe the 42-year-old stabbing victim was in the same 825 Concession St. apartment unit the evening before he was stabbed, said Det. Sgt. Steve Bereziuk of the major crime unit.
That's where the woman was allegedly held and assaulted overnight Saturday to Sunday, police said. Police searched the unit at 825 Concession St., a four-story brick apartment building, Monday.
However, Bereziuk stressed the two cases are being investigated separately. The major crime unit, which investigates homicides, is only investigating the stabbing.
Police have not released any suspect description in that case. The victim was stabbed on the street and walked, before collapsing onto the roadway on East 27th Street, near Concession. A dark-coloured SUV was seen southbound on East 27th.
Divisional detectives are leading the investigation into the alleged confinement and assault of a woman inside the apartment between Dec. 12 and Dec. 13.
Her injuries are serious, but not life-threatening. Police said it was a targeted attack.
Angelo Miller, 29, from Hamilton is wanted on four counts of assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threat to cause death and two counts of fail to comply with probation.
Police say he's considered armed and dangerous. If spotted, do not approach, but call 911.
Miller is described as a Caucasian man, six-foot and 163 pounds.
Anyone with information on the assault against the woman or with information on the whereabouts of Miller is asked to call Det. Sgt. Ben Thibodeau at 905-546-2907.
Anyone with information on the stabbing of the 42-year-old man on East 27th is asked to call Det. Richard Wouters at 905-546-4921.
