Hamilton could see snow Wednesday and is under a winter travel advisory.

A lake effect snow band is expected to head toward Burlington early Wednesday morning and spread out into Toronto, and Mississauga before noon before drifting south into Hamilton by this evening. Environment Canada is warning that Hamilton could see an accumulation from 5-10 cm of snow before Thursday morning.

Lake effect snow can quickly reduce visibility with sudden and heavy bursts of blowing snow. Environment Canada is advising motorists to be prepared for quickly deteriorating road conditions and is telling drivers to think of postponing non essential travel during the advisory.

Afternoon flurries are expected to become heavy in Hamilton around 6 p.m. Wednesday evening and continue through to Thursday. With the snow you can expect wind gusts from 40 to 50 km/h.

Temperatures will be -4 C over the next few days, but it'll feel like -9 C Wednesday evening and -14 through the overnight with the wind chill. Expect cloudy skies and a slight chance of flurries to continue into Thursday.

Drivers will need to be aware of the road conditions. Be sure you have a snow brush in your vehicle and drive according to the weather.
