Need to install guile 2.2 on Slackware 14.2

Running up-to-date Slackware 14.2 and I just downloaded the latest gEDA update, an electronic design tool, and it requires guile >= 2.2.4. S14.2 has guile 2.0.11.
I checked "Current" and it seems to be using guile 3.x, so that may not be an option for something that requires 2.2.
Q1: What can I expect by upgrading guile 2.0 to 2.2 for Slack 14.2?
Q2: Will upgrading guile from 2.0.11 to 2.2.4+ break any other S14.2 distro packages?
