Wifi issue, slack current, intel 8265
by phalange from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5BRC7)
I'm experiencing dropped wifi -- every few minutes or less the connection drops and must be manually re-established. I don't know if it's related to https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ms-4175685348/.
I booted an external drive with a slightly older version of current (kernel 5.4.70) and the wifi is solid so something went wrong in recent updates.
The device seems to initialize without any fuss:
dmesg | grep iwl
[ 11.540406] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[ 11.555741] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: loaded firmware version 36.ad812ee0.0 op_mode iwlmvm
[ 11.618457] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 8265, REV=0x230
[ 11.681712] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: base HW address: 40:a3:cc:89:dc:a3
[ 11.758553] ieee80211 phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-mvm-rs'
- laptop is Asus UX430U with Intel 8265 card
- slack -current
- xfce, kde, wm same issue
Any ideas?
