[SOLVED] Bluetooth Transmitter Antenna

I've searched with ddg on methods of improving the transmit range of a small bluetooth transmitter.
They use an antenna printed on the circuit board and I think there are two ways of modifying this.

Check the attached pictures that show the antenna and where I think I need to modify it.

Simplest way add a 1/4 wave whip antenna this would be 3cm long and I think I'd just solder it to point 2 on the board having severed that track of the onboard antenna t the point marked in red

The second way would be to add a small length of coax the center feed to point 2, and the shielding to point 1 and to sever both tracks at he red marker. The coax has an coax connector for an antenna.

Any comments folks, anyone tried this? And yes I know it's not exactly Linux but I imagine there may be some radio engineers on this thread.
