Saints place Winston on COVID-19 list
The New Orleans Saints have placed quarterback Jameis Winston on the COVID-19 list ahead of their matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Winston didn't test positive for COVID-19, but he was a high-risk close contact, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
He'll be unavailable for Sunday's contest, likely meaning that Taysom Hill will be the club's backup signal-caller.
Hill started the Saints' past four games, but he was slated to return to his sub-package role with Drew Brees back in the lineup.
Brees has been sidelined since Week 10 after fracturing 11 ribs and suffering a collapsed lung.
Winston has made three appearances this season, all in relief, going 7-for-11 passing for 75 yards. New Orleans signed him in the offseason.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers passer has thrown for 19,812 yards during his career. Winston has also logged one season with 5,000-plus passing yards.
