Is Solus good to fork off?

Hello, I am building a PC which I am planning on putting a custom linux distro on it which will act as a console. I really want to know which distro would be the best to fork off. I eventually decided on Solus but I am not completely sure yet. How good is solus to fork off? Is there something I need to watch out for while forking from solus that will cause me a headache? If solus is not a good distribution, what are some good alternatives?
