Highway 3 in Cayuga closed Monday for crash cleanup
Highway 3 in Cayuga is expected to be closed throughout the day Monday for cleanup after a serious crash involving a pickup truck and tractor trailer Sunday night.
The driver of the pickup was taken to hospital with serious injuries that were later determined to be life-threatening, said Haldimand County OPP.
Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash around 11:14 p.m. Dec. 20 on Highway 3, between Brooks and Windecker roads.
OPP say the pickup was westbound when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with the tractor trailer.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.
It was carrying a petroleum-based substance that leaked onto the road. Highway 3 is closed between Haldimand Highway 56 and Monture Street. It is expected to take most of the day Monday to clean up.
The Ministry of the Environment has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
