Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers will miss at least one game with a high ankle sprain, head coach Sean McVay said on Monday, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.

Akers picked up the injury in Sunday's stunning loss to the previously winless New York Jets.

The rookie had come on of late and is currently the Rams' leading rusher. He has 591 yards and two rushing scores on the season. He exploded for 171 yards in a win over the New England Patriots in Week 14 and had 63 yards rushing against the Jets on Sunday. He had a late touchdown run called back by a holding penalty.

Fellow backs Darrell Henderson Jr. and Malcolm Brown will be counted on to pick up the slack in Akers' absence.

The Rams will take on the Seahawks on Sunday.
