Fresh -current setup issue (elilo, Plasma 5, bluetooth, fcitx)
by Zihen from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5BYQE)
I have freshly installed -current as my main OS. Everything was nice, I got GUI desktop running after full installation.
However, there are a few things that I couldn't solve:
1. It doesn't boot after a kernel upgrade. I had to boot using a flash drive and cp /boot/initrd.gz and /boot/vmlinuz to /ESP/Slackware/ to replace the old images. I followed the guide on slackdoc, just want to know if this is the best practice since I am new to elilo. It also shows "kernel module not found" if I try copying a generic kernel to /ESP.
2. Since I am using a Nvidia optimus laptop, I chose X11 session instead of wayland. However, the menubar doesn't show until I choose Settings > Global Theme > Use desktop layout from theme. Then, I noticed there's a little icon on system tray indicating that "Plasma closed unexpectedly". Typing "qdbus --system" in konsole returns nice output (a list of org.freedesktop.*).
3. Blueman doesn't launch, and the bluetooth manager of KDE couldn't enable bluetooth as well. I tried to launch "blueman-manager" in konsole and it says "default adapter not found". I didn't get any relevant solutions online.
4. Even though I have added other input method via fcitx-configtool, I couldn't switch the input method via both keyboard shortcuts or system tray icon of fcitx.
Truly appreciate for any guidance! Slackware is nice after hopping from Windows, Ubuntu, Manjaro, InstantOS, Arch, Artix.
