Hamilton police are investigating three shootings in east Hamilton overnight, including one that left a 19-year-old man with non-life threatening injuries.

It is not clear if any of the incidents are related, said Const. Krista-Lee Ernst.

Police were called to Roxborough Avenue and Reid Avenue North around 11:30 p.m., Dec. 21 for reports of shots fired.

The 19-year-old victim was found in the area with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, police said.

Investigators believe the incident was targeted. No one has been charged and no suspect or vehicle description has been released.

Police were on scene overnight but have since cleared the area.

A couple of hours after the first shooting, around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police were called for shots fired on Third Road East, a rural road. A stretch of the road between Ridge and Green Mountain roads was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.

Around 4:30 a.m. police were called to a third on Eaton Place, a small residential street, northwest of the Red Hill Valley Parkway and Queenston Road for another shooting. This shooting scene is about half a kilometre away from the first shooting on Roxborough.

In this case no one was hurt and shots were fired at a house, Enrst said.

Police remain at this scene Tuesday morning.

The shootings on Roxborough and Eaton are being investigated by east end divisional detectives. The shots fired on Third Road East is being investigated by east end uniform patrol.

These incidents bring the total number of shootings this year up to 46, including 23 victims. Seven people have been killed in shootings in Hamilton in 2020.

There were 47 shootings in 2019, including eight deaths.

Detectives are asking people in the area to check security cameras.

Anyone with information is asked to Det. Sgt Ben Thibodeau at 905-546-2907 or the on duty east end staff sergeant at 905-546-2963.
