[SOLVED] Ubuntu File Manager name column wont stay at set width due to long file names

Solved...after one last try ...
in File Manager...
/view/configure column/ remove tick from .automatically expand columns as needed.
(/edit/preferences was not the place to do this) :doh:
tried searching for answer but search always times out lately...
