Screen trouble on IMac. Elementary OS (Ubuntu) - screen flickering, greyish

Hi everyone,
I am having trouble with Linux Elementary OS which I have installed on an iMac.
It works just fine until I am away for an hour and it goes into sleep mode. After I log in again the screen is all grey and flickers. Kind of like how it is when there is a warning message in the foreground the rest gets greyed out in the background. I can use it normally and everything works - it is just that it is hard to see things and there is no colors but shades of grey.
I took a screenshot to give you an impression, however it looks normal on the screenshot. Thus, I believe it is a hardware problem.
Anyone else has experienced this issue?
