A dream come true: Hamilton could see a white Christmas

If you were dreaming of a white Christmas in Hamilton, your holiday wish may just come true.

A snowfall warning is in effect in Hamilton - which would see 10-20 cm of snowfall overnight Thursday into Friday morning, according to Environment Canada.

This afternoon, Hamiltonians can expect a high of 8 C but temperatures are expected to fall to -3 C in the afternoon. With the wind chill, it could feel like -10 C.

As the temperatures fall, the rain is expected to change into snow. There is also a risk for freezing rain. With the snow you can expect wind gusts from 40 to 60 km/h.

The snow may become heavy at times in the evening and overnight, with 2-3 cm per hour possible at times paired with wind gusts of up to 50 km/h. The temperature will remain steady near -3 C, with the wind chill feeling more like -10 C.

Environment Canada is advising motorists to be prepared for rapidly accumulating snow and even black ice.

By Christmas morning, the snow should change into scattered flurries. Temperatures are expected to hover around -2 C, with the wind chill feeling more like -12 C.
