Trying to set up HP envy 4520 printer. Printer test page shows “stopped”

Hi. I am very much a newbie to Linux so bear with me.
I have installed Debian on an Acer laptop giving me raspberry pi desktop and all working very nice. I have installed CUPS 2.2.1 and installed the HP 4520 series, initially with wrong driver. Result was printer would turn on but print nothing.
I have now loaded the correct driver but on trying to print test page it shows the state as stopped" and the printer does not turn on like before.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
