Data recovery from an iPad
by Nobby_Gams from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5C8TG)
Hi, I'm very new to Linux but have downloaded Ubuntu in the hopes that I can recover some deleted files from my iPad.
The issue I'm having is that Windows didn't recognize the iPad as an external HDD that could be searched for recovered files. I thought that Linux would be able to read iPad's as external HDD's (after some advice said it could), but an attempted with TestDisk failed to read the iPad when it was plugged in.
Can anyone assist in giving me methods as to how I would recover the image and movie files from the iPad? If possible software with a GUI would be preferable, but I'm happy to try anything, including creating a disc image of the iPad first and then checking it.
If anyone has had success in this area I'd love to hear it.
Thanks very much in advance everyone.
(FYI I've gone down the jailbreak route with no luck)
