vlc showing "libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate"

Hi, A happy new year to all.
I am running vlc, version 3.0.11.1 built from Aliens restricted slackbuilds on a raspberry pi 4b running sarpi. I had a problem building the package but fixed it by commenting out the patch for libvpx on line 3316 of the slackbuild (as described in another thread from this website).
VLC actually runs fine but when invoking it from the command line, as soon as I start any video playback I get the following messages :
libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_nvidia.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
I know that the VDPAU error is due to my raspberry pi not having an nvidia video card and so can be ignored but I am not sure about the other message about DRI2 failing to authenticate.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
