All,

Been having basic config issues with Kubuntu 18.04 LTS which are:
  1. Apache:I wrote this up at:
    https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...32#post6203132
and have solved most of the problems except:
    • I cannot get the index.html files in the new virtual hosts to actually read,
    • I cannot get PHPmyAdmin to work,
    • I cannot get my Aliases to work.
NOTE:I only maintain localhost at /var/www/html because most of the frameworks I use install there, absolutely do not do any project development there.
  2. MySQL: Solved this: Thread at:
    https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ng-4175678774/
  3. Desktop: This desktop is totally screwy, cannot:
    • Turn off the jump to full screen on window click. No true developer ever ever wants anything full screen. Have to see all 20+ windows and apps you are working on,
    • Cannot drag-n-drop anything.
    • Cursor in totally screwy, jumping all over, starting apps not called for, cannot set to "double click" to open files, and is total BS!
    • Cannot use the "grab the edge" with the cursor to resize windows, etc.,
    • Ability to organize that was in Kubuntu 14.04 is totally gone, Wrote this up at:

Since no one knows the answers to this I will be contacting Canonical to see if this was just an Ubuntu add-on or whether it came from Debian.
    • Testing on this LTS version is totally lacking and now even 2 years (previously known waiting period for error corrections) the LTS versions are totally crap,
    • Features and capabilities have been deleted which violates the legal obligation that the baseline must be delivered intact with only enhancements and additions allowed as changes to new versions.
I'm sorry I'm letting off steam, but Kubuntu 14.04 was far superior to any version since.

If you have answers I can use please submit! However: Please observe the 2 cardinal rules on computing when answering, which are:
  1. Never, Never, Never, Never, Never Assume anything,
  2. Never, Never, Never, Never, Never Be Ambiguous.
Maybe you never heard these, but they were taught to all us old-school geeks in the 60s and 70s. Yes I'm old-school and proud of it!

Cheers!
