Remote access a server that changed its IP address after running VPN client

Hello, I feel this is a newbie question but it's related to networking.
I have a headless server on Debian Buster at home. I ssh into the server using local ip address (192.168.0.22) when I am at home and need to do manage it. I also set up my router so that I can ssh when I am on the internet.
I recently purchased NordVPN and am thinking of running nordvpn on the server (as a vpn client). When I ran nordvpn, I lost the connection to the server because its IP address changed after the vpn connection. I had to physically connect a monitor and keyboard to disconnect vpn.
Ideally, I would like to keep the server headless and still be able to remote access after the vpn connection. Is it possible?
