You may have noticed our series Crisis of Care, which examines long-term care homes and includes the article you're reading now. The number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in long-term care homes is gutting. They hurt because each represents a precious life, a history, a family in grief. Our reporting is a daily reminder of the tragedy that comes from decades of inaction and the urgency of finding solutions to the problems that afflict these systems.
