Hamilton police ask for help in ‘targeted’ Upper Stoney Creek shooting
Hamilton police are investigating a targeted" shooting in the Upper Stoney Creek area on Tuesday - the city's first shooting of 2021.
Police say they responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway and Times Square Boulevard - near the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area - on Jan. 5 shortly after 12:30 p.m.
Two men attended a residence in the area attempting to gain entry," police say. They were unsuccessful, and fled the scene.
Police say several gunshots were fired" during the incident. No injuries were reported, police say.
Det. Sgt. Ben Thibodeau told The Spectator on Tuesday they were targeting the one residence."
Thibodeau said a vacant car had been shot at. Police were seen inspecting the townhouse the car was parked in front of on Times Square Boulevard.
Police say officers remained in the neighbourhood for several hours" and canvassed for witnesses. The east-end criminal investigation branch is investigating the incident.
Police are asking residents in the area to check security camera footage for suspicious activity. Anyone with information is asked to contact Thibodeau at 905-546-2907.
