Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay has refused to name a quarterback for Saturday's playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks, but Jared Goff is progressing in the right direction to make his return.

Goff was throwing at practice Wednesday, nine days after undergoing surgery on Dec. 28 on his right thumb.

The Rams' top quarterback also took snaps from under center and went through ball-protection drills with only a small white wrap protecting the thumb.

Goff was injured in the Week 16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, which forced him to miss the win-and-in Week 17 battle with the Arizona Cardinals. Backup John Wolford started that game without any prior NFL experience and completed 22 of 38 passes for 231 yards and an interception in the 18-7 win.

The Rams' offense didn't supply any of the points in the regular-season finale.

Los Angeles ranked 11th in offense and 22nd in points scored with Goff under center.
