Nvidia legacy driver 304.137 and any 32 bit distro ideas?

Nvidia legacy driver 304.137 either cant build the modules, or it can build yet on reboots creates unusable video corruptions.
This would be for an older 32 bit only system.
Prescott 3.2ghz cpu 800mhz buss
Intel server motherboard s875wp1-e
AGP Nvidia 6200 gpu in a agp socket
3gb ddr ram
That driver is supposed to work for this card.
I tried old versions of MXLinux 18.3, Ubuntu 16.04 to 17.04, and while the driver can install, it just does not work. Shows icons are frizzed out unreadable, click on the screen and it just locks the PC. MXLinux would install the driver and could not shows the desktop, either black screen or a wall of text looking like an Xorg log file.
I know the hardware works as it is running windows 7 with the Nvidia driver installed. Windows 7 is the end of the line for this hardware.
So have tried 4 older versions of linux, then I saw on a search someone said they had this driver installed on slackware, so wondering if anyone has specific knowledge about this.
