Workers at Ancaster, West Hamilton Fortinos locations test positive for COVID-19
An employee at the Ancaster Fortinos has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the store's parent company.
Loblaws was notified on Thursday that a staff member at the grocery store at 54 Wilson St. W. tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19," according to a listing on their COVID-19 case tracker.
The employee last worked on Jan. 2.
The company was also notified Wednesday that a worker at the Fortinos at 1579 Main St. W. in Hamilton had tested positive. Their last shift was on Dec. 31, 2020.
According to Loblaws, when a worker tests positive they work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores."
A worker at the Food Basics at 63 Main St. W. in Grimsby has also tested positive, according to Metro, the store's parent company. The employee last worked on Dec. 28, 2020.
According to Metro, when a case is reported in their stores, a deep clean" is performed at the location out of an abundance of caution."
It's unclear how many staff members were affected by the cases or if any were recommended to self-isolate as a precaution. Neither database specifies which part of the store the employee worked in.
