Firefox System freezes

Since a couple of days my system freezes from time to time. It usually happens when I'm doing something in Firefox but I'm not sure if that's the origin of the problem.
When it freezes I still can move the cursor around but can't do anything else, not even switching to another tty or triggering a shutdown with pressing the power button. The only solution is to press the power button for several seconds which is just the same as unplug the system.
