Former Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has reached a deal to become the Dallas Cowboys' new defensive coordinator, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports.

Quinn met virtually with the Cowboys over the weekend and was set to travel to Dallas for an in-person interview Monday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Quinn has worked extensively on the defensive side of the game over his coaching career, serving as the Seattle Seahawks' defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014. Both of those defenses finished first in the NFL in yardage and points allowed. He also worked as a defensive line coach.

The 50-year-old last served as Atlanta's head coach but was fired after a 0-5 start to the 2020 season. He accumulated a 43-42 record during his six-year tenure. Quinn has also reached three Super Bowls, winning one and losing one as the Seahawks' defensive coordinator and dropping another with the Falcons.

The Cowboys have been on the lookout for a new defensive coordinator after firing Mike Nolan after just one season. Dallas' defense struggled heavily in Nolan's lone year, allowing the most points in franchise history.
