Report: Ravens to explore contract extension with Lamar
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to explore a contract extension with quarterback Lamar Jackson this offseason, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
The 2019 MVP could be in line for a lucrative extension due to the fast-rising quarterback market and his numerous accolades. Jackson has compiled a 30-7 record as a starter while throwing for 7,085 yards. He's also added 2,906 rushing yards and is the first quarterback in NFL history to record multiple 1,000-plus-yard rushing campaigns.
Patrick Mahomes is currently the league's highest-paid player while earning $45 million per year, according to Spotrac. Deshaun Watson is second behind the Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller, making $39 million per year. Russell Wilson is also not far behind, raking in $35 million annually.
Jackson has emerged as one of the NFL's best dual-threat QBs since becoming a starter in 2018. The passer has led the Ravens to the playoffs in each of his three seasons as a starter, and he notched his first postseason victory last Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
The 2018 first-round pick will face the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night.
