A 30-year-old St. Catharines man has been identified as the driver killed in a collision Thursday in Dunnville.

Haldimand County Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate the two-vehicle crash that occurred moments before 8 p.m. on Robinson Road just north of Bartlett Road.

Police say a witness reported that the drivers of both vehicles were trapped.

Firefighters from Haldimand County attempted to rescue one of the two drivers, an OPP media release says. However, the man died at the scene.

OPP have identified the driver as David Melanson.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police say.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 1-888-310-1122.
