Twelve people were fined for flouting public health regulations at a Hugs Over Mask event in the city hall forecourt Sunday.
Hamilton police and bylaw responded to the forecourt where 20 to 25 people gathered to rally against COVID-19 restrictions at about 12:15 p.m.
Staff Sgt. Scott Galbraith said the gathering, which was cleared by 1:45 p.m., resulted in 15 offence notices under the Reopening Ontario Act.
There were no arrests.
Fines for offences under the act range from $750 to $1,000.
