The Philadelphia Eagles are hiring Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their new head coach, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Sirianni has spent the last three seasons in Indy working under Frank Reich, who helped guide Philadelphia to a Super Bowl win in 2017 as its offensive coordinator.

The 39-year-old was previously an assistant for the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers for five seasons and the Kansas City Chiefs for four campaigns.

Sirianni will be tasked with turning around the Eagles and quarterback Carson Wentz after a disastrous 4-11-1 season that culminated with the franchise parting ways with head coach Doug Pederson.

Pederson benched Wentz in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts toward the end of the season after a turnover-laden campaign, a move that reportedly fractured Wentz and Pederson's relationship beyond repair.

The Eagles have insisted Wentz is part of their future plans despite reports prior to Pederson's dismissal that the quarterback intends to seek a trade this offseason.

Under Reich and Sirianni, the Colts were ninth in scoring offense this season after ranking 16th in 2019 and fifth in 2018. Reich handled play-calling duties in Indy.
