[SOLVED] slackware64-current xfce 4.16 systray/statustray crashes

The -current release contains xfce4-panel-4.16, which has the renamed systray (=statustray) in it. As released, it crashes upon startup. This has been reported on other Linux releases as well. After updating my system to today's latest slackware-current, I downloaded the source for xfce4-panel-4.16 from a slackware repository and recompiled it using the provided SlackBuild and reinstalled it. It now works fine. This explains why the panel maintainer's test don't crash. Some subtle difference in non-panel code.
