/lib/firmware/renesas_usb_fw.mem added - Didn't work
by Gordie from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5D8DW)
At Linux kernel 5.10.10 and the kernel is still broken.
After many tries to get huge to boot it finally worked and now I make this post. I made a new initrd and noticed this:
Code:/lib/firmware/renesas_usb_fw.mem addedYou would think that the boot process would jam up in the same spot but ... no. At least 10 familiar places it jams and every time it is before the pass off from framebuffer to vga. If I get lucky and it boots past that point it will work (like now) BUT if I watch a video it will lock up in short order. The video stops and audio continues on.
Mouse and keyboard are locked at that point.
I did not move, the kernel did. From 5.10.1 to this one (5.10.10) All those kernels act the same.
- I just added RAM to get to 16 gb - no change.
- I made changes in how I generate and use an initrd - no change.
- I have reverted to kernel 5.4.84 for daily use and there is no problem.
