About 25 protesters showed up at Paddock Transport International on Arvin Road before unfurling banners across a laneway from the company's secure compound. They were protesting the shipping of Canadian-made light armoured vehicles being built in London, Ontario to the Middle Eastern country and its war in Yemen.
The protesters were members or allies of World BEYOND War and Labour Against the Arms Trade.
Company officials ordered protesters off the property and grabbed banners blocking a truck trying to leave. Protesters eventually sat on the ground in front of the truck and despite one being pulled out of the way, the truck returned to the company yard.
Eventually, trucks began leaving through another route.
The event was part of a global day of action against the war in Yemen.
Police and Hamilton bylaw officials arrived on scene and protesters left before bylaw officers began handing out tickets.
