Woman charged in Hamilton crash that seriously hurt daughter
Hamilton police have charged a 32-year-old Brampton woman in a crash last September where her five-year-old daughter was seriously hurt.
Detectives from the collision reconstruction unit found the child was not properly secured in the vehicle when it collided with a light standard at Centennial Parkway and South Service Road on Sept. 8.
More than four months after the crash, police have charged the mother under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving and fail to ensure child properly secured.
The girl continues to recover from her injuries, police said.
Police allege the driver was westbound on South Service when she lost control, left the road and hit the light standard. Speed has been ruled out as a factor in the crash, police said.
The 32-year-old is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 8.
