error with CUPS: clients Debian10 and server raspbian buster

Hello,
I have an issue with printing to a small server from clients with Debian10 (all other Debian9 clients works well): the server is a raspberry pi with raspbian last version "buster".
an hp 2540 is connected via usb to the server.
It show: "Filter failed" in the printing result in the screen.
the /var/log/cups/error_log is huge. not sure where to search. any advice is welcome.
