Slackware 64 Current, Janurary install: Network Manager ignore mouse clicks
by jr_bob_dobbs from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5DHGR)
In Slackware 64 Current, installed in January, Network Manager (nm-applet in the tray, specifically) ignores mouse clicks most of the time.
I tried this in two window managers (Blackbox and Fvwm) with the same result.
I just now had the idea of trying it in a desktop environment, so I tried it in XFCE. Unexpectedly, I noticed two things. One, when run from XFCE, nm-applet has a different icon. Two: it responds to mouse clicks immediately and always.
Very odd.
One other thing: when starting Blackbox or Fvwm, there would be a lag of thirty seconds or so before nm-applet would appear in the tray.
I exited XFCE and ran Blackbox. Problem manifested, as before. Ran a shell to see what was going on. Long story short: a process called "plasma_waitforn" is started at about the same time as nm-applet. I killed the "plasma_waitforn" process. nm-applet responded to clicks. I exited window manager and then started it again. "plasma_waitfor" was running and the nm-applet icon was not there. Killing "plasma_waitfor" made nm-applet appear immediately in the tray.
Interesting.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thank you.
