How do I mount a remote folder?

I just want to mount a folder on a remote computer. How is this done?
I tried samba. Doesn't work.
I tried nfs. Doesn't work.
No, I really tried. I read multiple guides. Searched error messages and have come up with nothing but failure.
Samba used to work. But at some point, idk when exactly, it just stopped working for no reason what-so-ever without me changing anything.
