[SOLVED] How to change HDA designation to SDA
by MTCAT from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5DVH7)
Hi everyone,
I installed Slackware 12 (2.6.21.5) on a VortexDX3 (still trying to get smp kernel to boot) but when I installed Slacwkare sometime ago, I don't recall when (or if) during the process I had a chance to designate my "hard-drive" (128 GByte CF card) as an ide device (hda) or a SCSI device (sda).
I think I booted the Vortex off a "live" Slackware USB drive, from which I partitioned the "hard-drive" (CF-card) with cf-disk before installing, I think the Slack12 "live" USB O/S had already designated my CF-card as "hda".
I'm assuming that I want sda operation for best read/write speed ?
Is there a way to change the designation or do I need to start the install over again, from "scratch" and somehow enforce sda ?
The CF-card is quite high speed (expensive) so I would hope to not "choke" it down with slower speeds, assuming hda operation is slower than sda.
Thanks for the help.
