Do you hear what I hear? Sound issues.

Hi all. I am a bit baffled by this situation. My laptop is pretty much on 24/7 and very regularly, my sound just stops working. It works fine after a restart but I have no idea why it just randomly stops working all of a sudden. Is there a command line command I can type in to try to restart the sound without having to reboot?

I don't mind rebooting but I'd really like to avoid it if I'm in the middle of something and don't want to start all over again and I'd like to figure out why it's doing that too.

On that note, how would I go about updating the driver manually?
