Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was named the Offensive Rooke of the Year on Saturday at the NFL Honors for the 2020 season.

Herbert, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, broke rookie quarterback records with 31 passing touchdowns and 36 total scores.

The 22-year-old also racked up the most completions (396) and second-most passing yards (4,336) by a rookie signal-caller in NFL history.

Herbert beat out the likes of Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson, and Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor for the honor.

Expected to be Tyrod Taylor's backup heading into the season, Herbert was forced into action when a team doctor inadvertently punctured Taylor's lung during a pregame procedure prior to Week 2.

Herbert retained the starting job for the rest of the year and led the Chargers to a 7-9 record that included a four-game winning streak to end the campaign. The former Oregon standout engineered three game-winning drives.
