apartment community networking question

Hi all-

I am thinking about putting a router between my nephews
home network and the buildings network. That is what it says to do in the guide. Everything is wireless. Does this seem like a cool plan? I got him a nighthawk router. I want to get this tp-link wireless bridge| access point. I hooked him up in the meantime with a cool software firewall and VPN.

Is there anything in particular I will need when approaching the local internet company or apartment community, so they can activate the router and this other new device? Do I need to give them the serial number or mac address for the bridge and the router first to the cable company before I run the steps for hooking it up? I would think so... right?
