how to create a backtrace
by however from LinuxQuestions.org on (#5DWG6)
After submitting the bug report to the KDE team, I was contacted by a developer who, i think, is taking care of the KDE compositor crash that has been causing issues since kernel 5.10.X and video cards in general (original thread).
I have been asked to produce a backtrace of the crash and I was linked to this page. It's frustrating that there are no details of 'How-To' for the Slackware distro.
I looked elsewhere and I learned that the command to use is gdb followed by the program name and run it; then i should try to recreate the crash and finally find the file where the crash has been logged. Serious things, developer's stuff and I am sure that i would need more than just those two lines.
Code:gdb package
run (or start)My questions are:
1) could someone help/guide me in this task so that I may help the KDE developer's team to address this issue?
2) as for the crashing package, would it be KDE? or OpenGL?
3) where would the backtrace.log file be located?
4) anything else I need to do/know?
Thanks
edit: since the crash has happened several times, would I have a bcktrace.log file somewhere already?
