nuc nvme problems on fresh install of current: bio settings?

Hi. I'm trying to install current on a intel nuc box that has nvme format for the ssd.
1) how should the bios be setup? legacy or not?
2) how should the formatting be done? specifically format the efi partition?
3) which boot loader? elilo or grub?
I've read various threads, but I've been unsuccessful so far. I think I need to start fresh with the appropriate bios settings. Thanks in advance for your help.
