Man arrested after downtown Hamilton window-smashing spree
Hamilton police arrested a man overnight who they say went on an window-smashing spree in downtown Hamilton.
Police responded to call about a person going around smashing windows" in the downtown core on Monday at about 12:30 a.m., said Staff Sgt. Paul Corrigan.
Windows at the Hamilton courthouse, located at 45 Main. St. E. and five other locations sustained damage, Corrigan said. The other locations included 140 and 150 Main St. W., 24 Main St. W., 40 James St. S. and 1 Main St. E.
Damage costs are in the many thousands," Corrigan said.
A 38-year-old man faces charges including one count of mischief over $5,000, five counts of mischief under $5,000 and five counts of breaching probation. He is expected to appear in court for a bail hearing later Monday.
