Hillcrest school closed due to power outage

Hillcrest Elementary School is closed for the day due to a power outage.

In a press release Tuesday morning, the city's public board said there is a power outage in the area and the estimated time of restoration has not been determined at this time."

Child care and before- and after-school programming are also closed for the day.

According to Alectra - the city's utility provider - there are no ongoing power outages in Hamilton greater than 75 customers.

The board said facilities services as well as crews from Alectra are on site at the east Hamilton school and families will be updated when power is restored.

The school is expected to reopen tomorrow.
