Update question

If I'm updating Slackware-Current from the iso download with 'Upgradepkg --reinstall --install new' on selected directories, doesn't that leave the 'removed' packages installed?
I can go at the ChangeLog and remove them if there's nothing handier. But I'd like to know if there is. Please do not point me at slackpkg - to put it mildly, we never were the best of friends and now it's got big lectures in the Changelog about configs not working. Anyway, it's a little too bleeding edge for my taste.
