Turn on wifi

Hi all
I have a Lenovo G40 laptop with Lubuntu installed.I tried to update Lubuntu and I was told "Failed to download package files" check internet connection.
I pressed Fn and F5 which is how you turn on wifi on this PC but it didnt work,so it looks like I have to turn on wifi from Lubuntu,how do I do that ?
