Virtualbox Snapshots Menu Item Missing

I installed virtualbox for the first time.
Everything appears to be working well except the snapshots.
When I'm in the guest os I can take a snapshot, but there is no option to view or revert to a previous snapshot.
I've searched and I can see where the menu item usually is on other people's installs, but there isn't any on mine.
