Adrian Peterson isn't planning on retiring anytime soon.

The veteran running back wants to keep playing and remain productive until he's at least 40 years old.

"I want to live to be a 40-year-old back out there rushing for 1,500 yards and amazing people still," Peterson said to TMZ Sports.

Peterson, who turns 36 in March, wants to accomplish two goals before retiring: Capturing a Super Bowl, and passing Emmitt Smith on the all-time rushing yards list.

"I'm going to keep playing, trying to chase the championship and, God's willing, within the process of doing that, I'm able to catch Emmitt and pass him," he added.

Peterson ranks fifth all time with 14,820 rushing yards, putting him still significantly behind Smith's mark of 18,355 yards.
